Outreach
An early vision was given to the fellowship in which the Upper Room was depicted as a bursting pomegranate which scattered it’s seeds to the ends of the earth. We see this fulfilled as our members reach out into the local community and depart for other places and bear fruit as witnesses to the truth and power of Christ. The Upper Room supports and sends missionaries to deliver the good news to many parts of the world.
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it." (Mark 16:15-20)
As a congregation, we practically and spiritually support a number of missionaries all around the world. Many are in sensitive parts of the world and do not wish to have their name and location published on the Internet. Many people in the fellowship participate in a local outreach program that is phenomenally successful around the world – the Alpha Course. In addition, our A.R.R.O.W.S. youth discipleship team works with other groups and churches in the greater Lafayette area and beyond to present the gospel through drama, song, and testimonies. This not only impacts lives in the community, but also trains and encourages our young people in the proclamation of the gospel.
