We Believe
From time to time, visitors or others will ask: "What do you believe and teach in this fellowship?" The following list is a summary of some of the key beliefs most people want to understand, along with some of the relevant Scriptures that serve as a basis for these beliefs. If anyone has questions about any of these statements, or other doctrinal issues not mentioned here, we encourage you to ask any of the home fellowship leaders or elders in the fellowship.
That the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only infallible and authoritative guide to Christian life and service. II Timothy 3:15,16; I Peter 2:2
That there is one, and only one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Mark 12:29; John 5:17-30
That the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ is manifest in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations. Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 7:26; Acts 2:22; I Corinthians 15:3,4; Acts 1:9-11
That man was created good and upright, but man voluntarily sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God. Genesis 1:26,27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19
That the only means of our being cleansed from sin is through repentance and through faith in the precious blood of Christ. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. Luke 24:47; Romans 8:16; 10:13-15; Titus 2:11; 3:5-7
That the baptism in the Holy Spirit is granted to all believers who ask for it; that this experience is distinct from and follows the new birth; that it was the normal experience of the New Testament Christians; and that it brings an enduement of power for Christian living and service. Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 2:4: 10:44-46; 15:8,9
That the gifts of the Holy Spirit as outlined in I Cor. 12 are manifest today in the life of believers as is the fruit of the Spirit. Gal. 5:22,23
That Christ's death on the cross provides healing for the human body, in answer to believing prayer. Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James 5:14-16
That the Scriptures teach a life of holiness, sanctification being separation from that which is evil and a dedication unto God; that all believers should earnestly pursue sanctification by walking in obedience to God’s word; and that the Christian is able to live a godly life by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:15,16; Philemon 2:12,13
